Vihara Dewi Welas Asih
Vihara Dewi Welas Asih is one of 73 cultural heritage sites in Cirebon City. This monastery is listed as the oldest Buddhist place of worship in Cirebon and its surroundings. According to the Buddhist coach of the Dewi Welas Asih Temple, Romo Djunawi, there is no historical record that says since when the Dewi Welas Asih Temple was founded. However, according to the manuscript from the Kasepuhan Palace, it is stated that the Vihara was built in 1559. The name Dewi Welas Asih itself is taken from one of the Dewi Kwan Im figures in the Vihara. These gaps are objects that are still well preserved, since the arrival of Chinese citizens to Java. The Goddess of Mercy Vihara itself is not only a place of worship for Buddhists, but now it has become one of the most interesting historical tourist destinations to visit. In fact, every time entering the Chinese New Year celebration, this Vihara begins to be visited by many people.
